Here is the last tournament blog for 2010 season.  We held this tournament on the Susquehanna river in Havre De Grace.  We arrived to the ramp with the air temps in the mid 40's and water temps at 60.  The morning started out pretty calm with very little wind.  As the day went on the wind got up and we had gusts in the 30mph range.  Our winner for this Tournament was John Hansen with a bag weighing a impressive 12.05oz.  John reported starting his day with a run to the North East River.  He reported catching a few keepers working crankbaits down rip rap banks before the bite quickly went away and causing him to make another run back up into the Susquehanna River to finish his day.  He pulled up into the river and started throwing a bomber crankbait and quickly got a school of smallmouth to turn on to his crankbait.  John said "at one time he and his partner Kenny Miller were catching them as fast as they could get them off the hook and cast back in".  John's big fish was a 3.08lb smallmouth.  Nice bass!  He also said it was one of the best days of smallmouth fishing he's had on the river.  Great job John!  Finishing in second was Rodney Bailey with 5.05lbs.  Rod reported that he also ran to the North East and decided to grind it out there and try to make the best of it.  Rod caught his fish flipping a off shore rock pile.  He was flipping a green pumpkin Zipperworm monkey bug in 6 to 14 feet of water.  Coming in 3rd place was Kevin McGinnis with a 4.08lb largemouth which also took big bass honors for the day.  Kevin caught his bass also on a Zipperworm Monkey bug in the black with blue.  Kevin was flipping a off shore rock pile in about 6 feet of water.  Great job again by all of the guys of Chesapeake Bass Anglers and another awesome day of fishing.  I would also like to thank all of the guys who have stepped up and helped out in all of the things we have done this year with Maryland bass and other things.  This has been a great year with alot of bass being caught and quite a few great fish stories being created.

All in all this has been a successful year for the guys of Chesapeake Bass Anglers and the guys have really stepped up to put our club back in the forefront of the bass fishing community.  We had Nelson Mejia win a Bass weekend series win on the Potomac.  Nelson made it to the regional championships only fishing 4 out of 5 of the events.  This was Nelsons first year fishing the series. Also John Hansen won a MBF tournament on the Upper Bay and got a top 10 finish at Deep Creek lake.  Another first time trail fishing experience for John also.  Then we had Tom Bavarro winning multiple tournaments with his partner on the Anglers Choice trail and winning the AOY title.  Tom made it to the regional championships and this was his first year fishing the Anglers Choice trail.  Rodney Bailey gave them a run for their money down on the Potomac fishing the SQT winning big bass honors for the event and sitting in second place after the first day.  I think 2011 is not going to be any less eventful and the guys are not about to let up.  Good luck guys in the future and remember to pass on the love of the great outdoors to a child in your community.
