We are back from our Deep Creek Lake tournament and we had another successful trip with lots of bass being caught. This one had its ups and downs. Friday started off with high winds and the weekend wasn't any better with high winds and down pours both days along with thunder and lightning causing the early end to the tournament on Sunday. The bite started out tough for most of the anglers on Friday but they started to figure them out as the weekend progressed. Reports of Largemouth and Smallmouth were being caught all 3 days. The Largemouth were the better quality being caught. Also reports of Largemouth still being seen on beds suprisingly since water temps were in the mid 70's. Our tournament winner was Nelson Mejia with a winning weight of 27.11 lbs. Nelson also had lunker for the tournament winning a tie breaker with Tom Bavaro. He reported catching his bass on a variety of soft plastic baits but he's main go to bait was the Tiny Paca craw made by Net Bait. Catching most of his quality bass in the mid lake area targeting Largemouth. With this win Nelson took over the points lead in the angler of the year race by 5 points. Looks like its going to be a tight one this year like it has been the last 3 years. Finishing in 2nd place with 19.07 was Alex Clark who caught both Smallmouth and Largemouth. Alex reported catching the majority of his bass on a soft jerkbait. Coming in 3rd and tieing for lunker was Tom Bavaro who had 18.14 lbs. Tom reported catching his bass on a chigger craw targeting bedding largemouth. I would like to thank everyone for making this another successful away tournament. Its always a good time to get away and go catch bass. Also a thank you goes out to Jason Ludlow for setting us up with a sweet house that had more than what we needed including a hot tub and pool table.
